Investing in listed securities carries a risk of loss, including the possible loss of the entire amount you invest. This disclosure explains the main risks of trading through ETICO. It is not exhaustive. If you do not understand a risk, seek independent advice before trading. By trading on ETICO you confirm you have read and understood this disclosure.
1.Market risk
The value of securities rises and falls with market conditions, company performance, and economic factors. You may sell for less than you paid, and past performance is never a guarantee of future results. There is no assurance that any investment will achieve its objective.
2.No advice
ETICO is an execution-only service. We do not provide investment, financial, tax, or legal advice, and nothing in the app is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Our ethical screen limits the securities available to you but is not a judgement about their performance, suitability, or safety. All investment decisions are your own.
3.Liquidity and execution risk
- Some securities trade thinly. You may not be able to buy or sell at the price or time you want, or at all.
- Orders execute only during NGX trading hours and are subject to market availability. Execution is not guaranteed.
- Prices shown in the app may be delayed and are indicative. The executed price is the price that binds, and it may differ from the price displayed when you placed the order.
4.Settlement and custody
Trades settle on a T+1 basis under NGX and CSCS rules. Until settlement completes, your position and cash are subject to settlement processes operated by third parties. Your securities are held with the Central Securities Clearing System and our licensed brokerage partner.
5.Concentration risk
Holding a small number of securities, or securities concentrated in one sector, increases your exposure to the fortunes of those specific companies. Diversification can reduce, but does not eliminate, risk.
6.Operational and technology risk
Access to ETICO may be interrupted by outages, maintenance, connectivity problems, or events beyond our control, which could prevent you from placing or managing orders. We work to minimise disruption but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.
7.Currency, tax, and fees
Trading is subject to fees, commissions, and statutory levies that reduce your returns, and you are responsible for any taxes arising from your trading. These charges are disclosed before you confirm a trade.
8.Before you trade
Only invest money you can afford to lose, and make sure you understand the security you are buying and the risks involved. For more on how the service works, see our Terms of Service and FAQ.
